The International Supercomputing Conference (ISC) 2024, held in the vibrance of Hamburg, was an event filled with groundbreaking technology and valuable networking opportunities. Boston, in collaboration with our esteemed partners - Intel, NVIDIA, AMD, Supermicro, Castrol, Submer and VDURA (previously known as Panasas) - had a prominent presence, showcasing the latest innovations in HPC. Here's what we got up to across the three-day event:

Day 1: A Grand Kick-Off

The halls of ISC 24 buzzed with excitement as attendees from around the globe gathered to explore the cutting-edge advancements in tech. Boston's stand quickly became a hub of activity, with our team engaging in numerous conversations with visitors eager to learn about our offerings. The competition we launched was a major draw, encouraging a high number of entries and adding a layer of fun and interaction to our stand.

Our partners played a crucial role in our stand's success. Supermicro brought attention to their high-density server solutions, which are optimised for diverse HPC applications.

1. Inside the Hyper SuperServer (SYS-121H-TNR) system, Intel had their latest Xeon processors fixed with the innovative ZutaCore cold plate, highlighting exceptional performance and energy efficiency, which are pivotal for modern data centres.

2. The NVIDIA Grace Superchip system (ARS-221GL-NR ) impressed, emphasising their AI and deep learning capabilities that are revolutionising various industries.

3. The Hyper A+ Server (AS-1125HS-TNR), complete with AMD EPYC 9004 series, renowned for their multi-core performance and scalability, ideal for demanding HPC workloads, certainly pulled a crowd.

If you’d like to find out about all these systems, check out the video below, from Thomas Jorgensen at Supermicro, who takes a closer look at the functionality, benefits and key features of these servers.

Additionally, Submer demonstrated their incredible SmartPod EVO, with four servers submerged in oil from Castrol, shedding light on their innovative liquid cooling solutions that maintain optimal performance and energy efficiency in high-density data centres.

The day ended on a high note with a customer night hosted by our Boston Germany team at ALEX Hamburg at Alster Pavilion. It was an evening filled with great food, even better company and the beautiful backdrop of the Alster Lake, providing an excellent opportunity to strengthen relationships with our valued customers.

Day 2: Peak Activity and New Partnerships

The second day of ISC 24 was the busiest, marked by an even higher influx of attendees and a flurry of activities at our stand. Customer meetings and workshops were the highlights of the day, with our team discussing bespoke solutions and the latest technological advancements with potential customers. The engagement level was at its peak as many visitors returned to our stand to participate in the ongoing competition and to delve deeper into our offerings.

One of the significant outcomes of the day was the formation of new partnerships. These collaborations are set to enhance our capabilities and expand our market reach, ensuring that we continue to deliver state-of-the-art solutions to our customers.

In the evening, the Boston UK team hosted another delightful customer night at the Bourbon Bar in the Grand Elysee. This event was a perfect blend of networking and relaxation, allowing us to connect with our customers in a more informal setting, further solidifying our relationships.

Day 3: A Triumphant Conclusion

The final day of ISC 24 was no less eventful. The highlight was a speech by our very own Andrew Addison, which received an overwhelmingly positive reception. Andrew's insights into the future of HPC and the role of Boston in shaping this future resonated well with the audience, leaving a lasting impression.

Throughout the event, our stand continued to attract visitors until we rounded things up at 4PM; the enthusiasm and interest shown by the attendees reaffirmed the importance of ISC as a platform for innovation and collaboration in the HPC community.
