After two fantastic days at IP EXPO that saw the Boston team do their best to emulate the super hero theme of our stand (see below), we look back at was a truly 'super' event!
On the stand we showed off the world's first ARM cloud, based on our very own Viridis microserver, and NVIDIA GRID; a technology that delivers true GPU acceleration in VDI environments.
After launching the world's first ARM-based server last year we were excited to be part of the ARM-as-a-Service (AaaS) project and help push the development of ARM-based server platforms further. On day one of the event Boston's Head of HPC, David Power, delivered a presentation on the Viridis and introduced our work with Inktank to bring Ceph storage to an ARM-based platform.
NVIDIA's GRID technology is set to revolutionise VDI for graphically intensive applications, and we were demonstrating how Autodesk's Maya could be delivered from a datacentre in Enfield to a thin client in a busy Earls Court 2 with no loss of performance or usability. Watching a designer animate 3D objects in real time with no stutter or loss of control was extremely impressive! More details about the demo can be found on an earlier blog entry here.

In a change from the norm we were also visited on the stand by a Wookiee! Superheroes and Star Wars at an IT event…?
We'd like to thank our partners Inktank, Mellanox, Solarflare, Supermicro, NVIDIA, Calxeda, and Escape Technology for supporting us with our competitions, demos and giveaways. We're looking forward to seeing everyone at IP EXPO 2014 - this time at the ExCel.
To help our clients make informed decisions about new technologies, we have opened up our research & development facilities and actively encourage customers to try the latest platforms using their own tools and if necessary together with their existing hardware. Remote access is also available
International Super Computing is a can't miss event for anyone interested in HPC, tech, and more.
