Four hot-plugged server nodes contained within a 2U enclosure, the Boston Quattro 1218-6 delivers extreme density with eight high performance Intel Xeon E5-2698 v4 Processors in a 2U form factor. Designed for optimal performance and processing density, the Boston Quattro 1218-6 provides a unique combination of four hot-pluggable nodes in a 2U form factor, delivering world-class performance that will satisfy the ever-increasing efficiency, density and low-TCO demands of today's high performance computing (HPC) clusters and data centres.
Powered by the latest Intel Xeon E5-2698 v4 processors, the Boston Quattro 1218-6 delivers outstanding energy efficiency and performance in a small but powerful enclosure. Based on Intel's latest generation Xeon processors and C612-series chipset, the server provides two 20-core Intel Xeon E5-2698 v4 processors per node. This equates to 160 cores within the 2U enclosure and an incredible 3,360 cores when fully populating an industry standard 42U rack cabinet.
The Intel Xeon E5-2698 v4 processors also offer PCI Express 3.0 and each node is complimented with a 16x PCI-Express slot with an additional 8x PCI-Express Micro-LP slot. Memory bandwidth is also substantially increased compared to the old generation via four DDR4-2400MHz memory channels per CPU, as well as through the inclusion of sixteen DIMM slots per node to enable capabilities of up to 2TB of ECC registered memory per 2U system.
