Optimized for high performance - high availability storage applications, Boston's innovative Igloo NXStor SBB based on the industry standard SBB specification, is a fully redundant, fault-tolerant, Storage Cluster "in-a-box".
The Igloo NXStor SBB supports 12 x 3.5" Hot-swap SAS HDDs of up to 3TB each in tandem with 3 x high performance solid state hard disks for IO acceleration. Two 8GB SSD cache drives are used in mirror as an accelerated write cache for the standard spinning disk array; Additionally the final 400GB SSD drive is used to compliment the system RAM as an adaptive replacement (read) cache. The result of these extra caching levels is an increase in performance of high magnitude - in many cases up to 10x better than standard storage arrays.
In benchmark testing the Igloo NXStor SBB has been shown to produce a staggering 50,000 IOPs Vs. just 6,000 IOPs from the same test on a similar standard disk array without SSD IO acceleration. This dramatic improvement over spinning disk arrays shows significant cost advantages over alternative monolithic storage implementations required to deliver an equivalent level of performance.
Based on Nexenta's NexentaStor™ the Igloo NXStor SBB leverages the revolutionary ZFS file system. This allows previously exotic and proprietary storage features typically offered as additional upgrades by other vendors to be included as standard at no cost across the Igloo NXStor range including, multi-parity RAID, data de-duplication, unlimited snapshots, compression, replication, copy-on-write data resilience, online volume expansion and many more. Scalability is second to none with optional additional cascading units containing further spinning disks for greater capacity or extra solid state disks for increased cache.
NexentaStor™ is the leading hardware independent OpenStorage solution based on its adoption by thousands of enterprises to date. With features such as 128 bit addressing, virtually unlimited storage file sizes, virtually unlimited numbers of clones, and support for multiple concurrent server virtualization vendors, NexentaStor™ is both Cloud and Virtualizaton ready. Nexenta has also developed the VM Data Center module, which integrates tightly with NexentaStor, VMware, and Citrix. The VM Data Center module allows hosting and cloud providers to easily see and manage their virtual environments. For maximum efficiency, storage policies can be set directly from NexentaStor for particular virtual machines.
