The Boston Fenway 2104-0T, powered by Intel's latest generation Xeon E3-1200 v5 series (codename Skylake), brings never seen before performance to the SME and dedicated hosting segment. Now featuring DDR-4 memory up to 2133MHz and 64GB capacity, even memory hungry workloads are well within its grasp.
The Boston Fenway 2104-0T, powered by Intel's latest generation Xeon™ E3-1200 v5 series (codename Skylake), brings never seen before performance to the SME and dedicated hosting segment. Now featuring DDR-4 memory up to 2133MHz and 64GB capacity, even memory hungry workloads are well within its grasp.
Intel's Xeon™ E3-1200 v5 series brings a whole host of extra features to the Boston Fenway 2104-0T too. The biggest change in the architecture over its predecessor is the DDR memory interface moving from DDR3 to DDR4, while also increasing the clock speed to 2133MHz. Additionally, there are more traditional performance increases with a 15% improvement in CPU performance and 14% improvement in memory bandwidth.
The v5 architecture brings forth performance gains with native 3.0 PCI-E, USB 3.0 and SATA 3 interfaces.. While these features have been seen previously they were not always natively supported by the Intel chipset and were provided through the use of 3rd party controllers.
Storage options have been brought into the future with the addition of optional NVMe support alongside the more traditional storage options in the form of 8 x 2.5" SAS / SATA bays with inclusive SAS 3.0 / 12Gbits support. Combining these allows for a tiered approached to your storage that meets both performance and capacity requirements in a relatively small form factor.
Native 10GbE Base-T ports laid down on the motherboard enable high bandwidth networking with 10GbE backbones, but can also still operate at the lower rate with more commonly found 1GbE switches until your next networking refresh.
All of these technological and performance increases have been squeezed down into a 1U rack mount form factor. While the newer features outlined are rolled into the platform, this does not impact features expected. The Boston Fenway 2104-0T has up to 8 SATA/SAS hot swap bays, Supermicro's IPMI (out of band management) and platinum certified redundant power supplies as standard.
