A versatile, full featured high IO capability 1U rack mount server based on Supermicro's Ultra series. The Boston Fenway 2116-0C supports up to two, Intel® Xeon™ E5-2600 v3 processors with up to 18 cores each, and up to 1.5 TB DDR4 across 24 DIMM slots.
Equipped with the X10DRU-i+ Supermicro Ultra Series motherboard, the Boston Fenway 2116-0C comes as standard with two of the latest Intel Xeon E5-2640 v3 CPUs – providing 8 cores per processor a 2.6GHz clock speed, integrated voltage regulator, Intel® AVX 2.0 and 4x DDR4 memory channels operating at 2133MHz.
Thanks to inclusion of 32GB DDR4-2133 ECC REG memory, the Boston Fenway 2116-0C offers excellent workload performance for a variety of applications, but can also be expanded to a huge 1.5TB for more demanding applications like life sciences or high density virtualisation. Additional features include ten hot-swappable 2.5" drives bays, eight with SAS 3 RAID support provided by an inclusive LSI 3108 controller with a 2GB SuperCapacitor backed flash memory cache. The remaining two ports can support S-ATA devices, but also have an optional NVMe upgrade to support via the Supermicro SLG3-2E4 NVMe PCIe card for extreme IO performance applications.
High performance networking is provided by a pair of Intel® X540 10GbE Ethernet ports using the popular and low cost 10G-Base-T connector which is backwards compatible with traditional 1GbE networks already widely deployed today, allowing connectivity today at 1GbE, even without a compatible 10GbE cable and switch.
Dual PCI-Express x16 slots, accepting cards of full height and a length of 10.5" and a low profile PCI-Express x8 slot make the Boston Fenway 2116-0C an excellent choice for applications requiring multiple add in cards, but without compromising on performance and resilience.
