AMD Opteron 2216 2.4GHz (Santa Rosa)

Opteron processors from AMD are a prime choice for use in your servers. This second generation Opteron processor takes advantage of DDR2 memory’s faster speeds. At 2.4GHz with 1MB of L2 cache per core, this processor is ideal for SOHO use. Or, use two processors and scale your server up to 4 cores for heavy loads.

Based on the AMD64 architecture, it runs today’s 32bit x86 software and operating systems at maximum performance and efficiency while providing a 64bit upgrade path. You also get AMD’s Direct Connect Architecture (DCA) which connects the processors, integrated memory controller and I/O directly to the CPU at full speed. This gives you massive memory bandwidth for transfers up to 10.7GB/s per processor.

The DCA combines with AMD-Virtualization to deliver a balanced approach to improve virtualization performance. This enables you to run more virtual machines per server. The integrated memory controller is integration aware so it maximizes isolation of virtual machine memory.
