Based on Supermicro's 1U Ultra server range, the Boston Fenway 1164-0TN-DC2 is a liquid-cooled server utilising 2-phase direct-to-chip technology and sporting AMD's EPYC™ 7003 range of processors, based on Zen 3 architecture.
The Boston Fenway 1164-0TN-DC2 server features a dual SP3 socket motherboard that supports two AMD EPYC processors with AMD 3D V-Cache™ technology, up to 64 cores and 128 threads with the TDP of 280W, 8TB of DDR4-3200 ECC memory and 3 PCIe 4.0 expansion cards.
It is housed in a 1U chassis supporting 4 hot-swap SATA drives or 4 U.2 NVMe SSD’s with PCIe 4.0 interface and redundant 1200W Titanium power supplies. It comes with 10GbE networking as standard and a dedicated port for IPMI remote management.
Boston has partnered with ZutaCore to take server cooling to the next level. The Boston Fenway 1164-0TN-DC2 is using HyperCool; a direct-on-chip, waterless, evaporative 2-phase liquid cooling solution. This technology has many benefits - it allows for more stable frequencies under load which increases CPU performance while lowering the overall server power consumption at the same time. It improves energy efficiency and makes high-performance computing possible in environments that have air cooling limitations or have high ambient temperature.
