Denver, CO (November 19, 2013) - Boston Limited, a leading manufacturer of high performance, energy efficient server, storage and clustered solutions, is delighted to unveil the latest addition to its innovative Viridis Microserver range powered by ARM Cortexc™ A15 quad-core processor. The Boston Viridis 2.0 is based on six ECX-2000 cards; each card hosting two four-core SoC's (Server-on-Chip) running at 1.8GHz and consuming as little as 6 Watts of power.

The EnergyCore™ ECX-2000 is Calxeda's latest family of SoC (Server-on-Chip) products that deliver the power efficiency of ARM®-based processors to the datacentre. Certified to run Ubuntu 13.10 the ECX-2000 SoC enables the Boston Viridis 2.0 to run the latest OpenStack Havana platform designed for building public, private and hybrid clouds.

Using the ARM Cortex™ A15 quad-core processor, the ECX-2000 delivers twice the performance, three times the memory bandwidth, and four times the memory capacity of the ground-breaking ECX-1000. It is highly scalable thanks to the integrated 80GB Fleet Fabric™ switch, while the embedded Fleet Engine™ simultaneously provides out-of-band control and intelligence for autonomic operation and power optimization.

Manoj Nayee, Managing Director of Boston Limited, comments that "Boston is delighted to introduce our latest iteration of the ARM-based Viridis platform, based on Calxeda's EnergyCore ECX-2000, for the storage, cloud and virtualisation arenas."

"Now, with improved performance and triple the memory bandwidth, Boston is excited to build on the game-changing launch of its ARM-server range last year."

The Boston Viridis Microserver was launched at the International Supercomputing Conference in 2012 as the first to enter general availability in a new generation of datacentre servers based on technology from ARM, whose chip designs power the Apple® iPhone®, iPad® and many other low-power consumer devices.
