The sun-soaked city of Marrakech once again became the epicentre of technological transformation this April, as GITEX Africa returned for its third edition. Running from the 14th to the 16th, the event brought together a blend of government leaders, tech giants, grassroots startups and forward-thinking investors, all converging on the continent’s fastest-growing innovation hub. Among the thousands of participants from over 130 countries, Boston Limited joined the conversation with a clear purpose — to explore new ground in high-performance computing, AI infrastructure and digital capacity building across Africa.
Backed by key technology partners — Supermicro, Intel and Virtuozzo — Boston arrived with a focused mission: to showcase infrastructure solutions that are ready for Africa’s unique needs. Whether it’s the demand for liquid-cooled servers in high-temperature environments or edge-ready storage built for AI, the emphasis was on real-world impact. At GITEX Africa, the spotlight wasn't on the speculative — it was on what's already possible, and how quickly it can scale.
This year’s show placed a strong emphasis on connectivity and infrastructure, with dedicated summits like the Africa Future Connectivity Conference zeroing in on next-generation broadband, cloud-native services and the rollout of 5G. Keynote speakers included influential figures such as H.E. Ghita Mezzour, Morocco’s Minister of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, and global tech leaders from Microsoft, Ericsson and Huawei. GITEX Africa also featured the inaugural Global DevSlam Africa — a community-led developer forum — and hosted over 350 global investors at the North Star startup stage, all exploring Africa’s potential to leapfrog legacy systems and drive true digital-first economies.
For Boston, this created the perfect opportunity to highlight the systems and services that support these ambitions — from modular data centres and AI-ready storage to training programmes and tailored consultancy. Conversations on the ground reflected a growing demand for resilient IT frameworks in both urban and remote environments, as Africa’s digital momentum continues to accelerate. Boston’s team shared insights into how our partnerships — including our work with Virtuozzo on containerisation and edge virtualisation — are helping bridge the gap between vision and execution.
At the Boston booth, the focus was on more than just infrastructure — it was on what that infrastructure enables. In partnership with Supermicro, we showcased the AMD H12 2U Ultra featuring ZutaCore’s direct-to-chip liquid cooling. Designed for high-density deployments, this system delivers superior thermal performance in space-constrained environments, making it ideal for the hot climates and energy challenges often found across African data centres.
Also on display was the Boston Igloo AI+, powered by PEAK:AIO, a high-performance storage solution tailored for AI workloads. It’s designed to maximise throughput and latency without requiring heavy investment in GPU accelerators — meaning it is particularly valuable for organisations building out early-stage AI infrastructure or working with limited power and cooling options.
These solutions sparked meaningful conversations — not just with local systems integrators and distributors, but with education providers, research labs and government bodies. The team explored how Intel-powered platforms are evolving to meet new energy and efficiency targets, and how Boston Labs can serve as a low-risk environment for testing and scaling across diverse deployment conditions.
One of the most powerful themes across the show was inclusion — not just in terms of access to technology, but in who is driving the innovation. The introduction of the Diaspora Studio gave voice to African professionals across the globe, while initiatives like SheWins Africa, supported by the IFC, spotlighted some of the continent’s most promising women-led startups. These weren’t side-line showcases — they were centre-stage moments that highlighted the depth and diversity of Africa’s talent. For Boston, whose global team thrives on diversity and collaboration, this felt like a natural connection point. Through strategic partnerships and joint ventures, there’s potential to co-develop solutions that reflect the needs of local users — whether in fintech, agritech or smart city applications.
Live discussions at the booth covered a broad range of topics — from HPC-as-a-Service and GPU clusters, to how liquid cooling and containerised applications can accelerate performance in remote edge deployments. Africa’s climate, infrastructure landscape and emerging AI ambitions present a complex mix of challenges and opportunities — and Boston’s strength lies in building the right solution for each context. The team held technical workshops, fielded integration discussions and explored new alliances that could shape deployments across the region in the months to come.
As GITEX Africa drew to a close, one thing became clear — the continent’s digital ambitions are not five years away, they’re already here. From telecom investment and renewable-powered data centres to a surge in local AI talent, the foundations are rapidly forming. Boston’s engagement at the event wasn’t just about what’s possible today, but what’s coming next. As demand continues to rise for AI, HPC and scalable cloud infrastructure, Boston is committed to helping shape the future — one collaboration at a time.
