Reliance Jio is one of the world’s largest data networks, approaching 430 million users*. They are a successful telecommunications company based in India, operating a national LTE network covering all 22 telecom circles. Jio offers 4G, 4G+, and 5G and are working on their 6G services. Established in 2007, they have grown to become the largest mobile network operator in India, and third largest in the world. Such rapid growth naturally increases demand on their infrastructure.

The challenge

Jio were looking for a solution with the following outcomes for their Mobile Edge Compute (MEC):

  • Improved Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE)
  • Reduced infrastructure costs
  • Improved compute density

The solution

There are vast amounts of data being generated today. Indeed, according to SG Analytics, there was 2.5 quintillion bytes of data created every day in 2020! Reliance Jio’s own network can sustain 3 billion GB per month, but it anticipates a growth to 10 billion GB per month in the foreseeable future. Network and compute infrastructure improvements are a critical component to keep pace with such growth and this is particularly true where computing happens at the edge of the mobile networks.

Asperitas’ award-winning Immersed Computing® expertise is at the centre of this innovation: the AIC24 solution, which uses natural convection to circulate the coolant rather than pumps.

  • AIC24 is fully self-contained, and modular
  • Capable of containing 48 immersed nodes
  • Contains two immersed switches
  • Uses a dielectric fluid developed and optimised for immersion cooling

Professional services

This solution enjoys specifically chosen tech from collaborating partners: Supermicro, AMD, and Micron.
Alongside the hardware, we delivered end-to-end support services including:

  • On-site installation and commissioning of systems
  • Training to Jio staff on ongoing system management, clean-up and replacement
