EAGE, Copenhagen (June 4, 2012) - Boston Limited, now in its 18th year as distribution partner for Super Micro Computer (NASDAQ: SMCI), is proud to unveil the latest addition to their award-winning range of Venom GPU Compute solutions, optimized for the Oil and Gas arena.
Working closely with technology partners NVIDIA and Supermicro, Boston is unveiling a new range of solutions based on NVIDIA's next generation CUDA GPUs, the Kepler K10. Using extraordinarily powerful GPU compute architecture, NVIDIA's Kepler K10 raises the parallel-computing bar considerably above and beyond previous generation Fermi GPUs.
The Kepler architecture enables two high-performance Tesla K10 GPUs to be placed on a single accelerator board. Delivering an aggregate performance of 4.58 teraflops of single-precision floating point and 320 gigabytes per second memory bandwidth, the Tesla K10 is the world's highest throughput GPU accelerator.
Boston is also unveiling the Venom 2300-7T at EAGE 2012; a high-performance workstation that harnesses the power of Intel's latest Xeon E5-2600-series processors and NVIDIA's GPU Maximus technology.
Using a unique and effective combination of the NVIDIA Quadro 4000 GPU and NVIDIA Tesla C2075 GPC compute processor, the Venom 2300-7T is a game-changing solution for the seismic processing sector in Oil and Gas. Scientists are able to take advantage of GPU computing's advanced performance capabilities, in order to develop algorithms for visualization that will significantly improve the clarity of the image.
The use of GPUs in seismic processing delivers acceleration improvements of up to 40x and increase data crunching efficiency by an order of magnitude. Scientists therefore have discovered improved accuracy by enabling the use of more detailed, computationally-intensive seismic processing software algorithms; such as reverse time migration, full waveform inversion and Kirchoff time/depth migration.
Manoj Nayee, Managing Director for Boston Limited says "Boston takes pride in launching our latest range of GPU based solutions based on NVIDIA GPUs and Supermicro chassis and motherboards. These ultra-accelerated platforms provide the highest performance and accuracy on the market with enterprise-class build quality."
