Important Notice Regarding WEEE and RoHS
Announcements
On 10 August 2005 the Government announced a timeline for the implementation of
two EC directives, these are, EC Directive on Waste Electrical and Electronic
Equipment (WEEE) and EC Directive on the Restriction of the Use of Certain
Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (RoHS).

Boston Ltd is committed to ensuring compliance with the legislation and has
undertaken the following steps:
(i) Boston Ltd has asked all suppliers to provide confirmation of their
compliance and adherence to the timeline with regards to both directives.
(ii) Products that are currently in transit from suppliers to Boston Ltd or
those stored in warehouses, including yours, may not carry the “crossed out
wheelie bin sign”; this is of no concern and has been anticipated by the
authorities and is fully allowable. New imports will carry the correct
labelling.
(iii) Boston Ltd is in the process of setting up a recycling service for its
customers, should you wish to be kept up to date on this please e-mail
waste@boston.co.uk.
At this point in time, the key dates are:
(a) Aug 13 2005, goods to be marked using the “crossed out wheelie bin sign”.
(b) WEEE enforcement, June 1 2006.
(c) RoHS enforcement, July 1 2006.
